The Louisa Martindale Building will offer state of the art accommodation for outpatient, ward and specialist services across its 11 floors. It is the first stage of the 3Ts Redevelopment of the hospital.

The Louisa Martindale Building is the newest clinical building in NHS England. Alongside it is the Barry Building, the oldest.

Outpatient appointments in the Louisa Martindale Building will begin on Monday 12 June. Letters have already been sent to patients with appointments in the new building. Reception staff and volunteers will be on hand to help direct patients when they arrive.

Outpatient appointments will take place in the location shown in the patient’s most recent appointment letter.

The Trust will start moving wards in the second half of June, including the transfer of the Neurology ward from Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. Patients on the wards and their visitors will be given plenty of notice of the moves and of their new location.

Many of the ward patients will be moving from the 195-year-old Barry Building to the upper floors of the Louisa Martindale Building and will notice a stark difference in environment including sea views.

The final services to move will be Neuroscience outpatients from Princess Royal Hospital and the step-by-step relocation of ITU into the Louisa Martindale Building.

The hospital will be inviting patients and staff to share their experiences of the  wonderful new building as it becomes part of the hospital’s daily life. There will be more news and views from the Louisa Martindale Building over the coming weeks.
