A massive thank you to all of our amazing volunteers
Healthwatch Brighton and Hove wanted to use this opportunity to say a massive thank you to our wonderful volunteers for everything they do for us.
In this article, you can read about the work that some of our volunteers do for us, and why they enjoy it. Plus, Fran McCabe, Chair of our Board of Directors, says a personal thank you.
Our volunteers
We asked some of our volunteers to tell us why they chose to volunteer with Healthwatch, and what they get from this. You can read their personal stories in our Volunteer Week 2020 briefing and by viewing the videos made by Nick, Rebecca and Josh (below)
If you have ever thought of volunteering for Healthwatch then do take a minute to look at the range of opportunities we have on our website
A message and video from Fran McCabe, Chair of Healthwatch Brighton and Hove
"In Volunteers Week 2020, I would like to acknowledge and celebrate the work of Healthwatch volunteers, not just for the week, but for the years you have loyally contributed to Healthwatch work. We could not fulfil our role without you.
You freely give us your time, and share your knowledge, skills, and ideas with us. The projects you help us deliver routinely receive praise from city health leaders, who recognize the amount of work that lies behind the data and recommendations. This vital intelligence tells them how health and social care services are performing, what people really think about them, and how they might change - and this has led to many improvements being made. You should be extremely proud of everything that you are helping us to achieve – your efforts are benefitting thousands of patients, both today and tomorrow. This is all bourne out by our recent report where we asked the people who we work with what they thought of Healthwatch. Over 90% told us that Healthwatch makes a positive impact on health and social care services, and over 80% said we gather unique patient views that their organisation would otherwise not have access to. Thank you.
I would also like to take this opportunity thank those volunteers who work ‘in the back room’ on research and other tasks; and our university students and Young Healthwatch. And finally, many thanks to the Board who have also given their time and expertise freely and generously.
Thank you all for everything that you do for Healthwatch, and our city."
