NHS funding crisis in Brighton and Hove
The plan for where the axe will fall is likely to be available to the public in early August. Healthwatch will be briefed by the NHS on the likely impact. We will be pushing the NHS to ensure proper engagement and dialogue with the public and those who will be most directly affected.
The £50m problem is shared between Brighton and Hove and four other Clinical Commissioning Groups, now known as the Central Sussex and East Surrey Alliance. Let’s just call it ‘the Alliance’ is a sub set of the Sussex and Surrey STP – Sustainability and Transformation Partnership.
The NHS have provided a Financial Situation FAQ.
The Alliance is under the management of Adam Doyle as overall Accountable Officer. For keen watchers of the NHS, this Alliance looks like a prelude to local CCG's formally combining to make a bigger NHS Commissioning organisation. It would not be surprising to learn that by the time this newsletter is published the Alliance may have grown to include more of the CCG’s in the Sussex and East Surrey STP.
