Free access to weight loss and healthy lifestyle programmes with Gloji

Gloji is a tier 2 weight management service commissioned by Brighton & Hove City Council as part of the preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyles initiative in the city.

Commissioned by Brighton & Hove City Council, Gloji offers innovative and engaging tier 2 weight management programmes to support people lose weight in a way that works for them.

 The service now offers the following variation of programmes:

  • Digital – An adult programme which can provide weekly 1-1 phone support if required for 12 weeks.
  • Groups – An adult, knowledge-based groups programme, 90 minutes per week for 12 weeks.  These run quarterly and are currently based at King Alfred, Prince Regent, Moulescoomb and Portslade leisure centres. The next cohort is starting in January 2025.
  • Children and Families - Family support for children aged 5-15.  These run quarterly, with the next cohort starting November 2024 at Portslade, Withdean and Moulescoomb leisure centres. (15-18 year olds can access either children and families or adult programmes).
  • Pregnancy Support – Those who are pregnant can get 4 specialist 1-1 appointments over 12 weeks.
  • Learning Disability Support – For those with learning disabilities, 6 sessions over 12 weeks are available, the first session is 1-1, followed by 5 group sessions.
  • Exercise Support - A 12 week exercise programme, currently swimming at St Lukes and access to the digital gloji gym.  The next cohort is starting January 2025 
  • 0-4 Years Support - Launching November 2024. 1-1 support for parents and care givers.
  • Gloji Gym – an online gym portal with recorded and live workouts for all levels of fitness and ability. Available to anyone on our adult programmes.
  • Partner programmes : With Gloji, you can get 14-week free membership passes to MAN V FAT & Slimming World.

How to access Gloji:

You can also access Gloji through the healthy lifestyles team at BHCC Brighton & Hove City Council.  

GP’s & Health care professionals are also able to directly refer patients in.

Eligibility Criteria:

For adults:

  • Resident of Brighton & Hove
  • BMI ≥ 25 (BMI ≥ 23 for Black, Asian and other ethnic minority groups
  • Aged 16+

For children:

  • Resident of Brighton & Hove
  • BMI ≥ 91st percentile
  • Aged 0-18
