Advice on how to manage the side effects of cancer treatment through activity.
Brighton and Hove Albion in the Community’s Brighter Outlook programme offers free physical activity support from Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation Specialists to help patients to prepare for cancer treatments, help manage the side effects of treatment and support recovery.
Once they receive a referral, everyone receives a one-to-one initial assessment (either in person or online) with one of their Cancer Rehabilitation coaches, and then follow-up appointments at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.
Their goal is to support everyone to get more active in a way that is right for them.
They offer:
- group sessions (currently in Brighton and Hove, Eastbourne, Bexhill, Haywards Heath, Lancing, Chichester, Crawley and Hastings)
- a range of group sessions via zoom (including strength and condition, seated class, yoga)
- one-to-one home programmes
- referrals to local gyms
- and signposting to appropriate support and services.

It’s great and inspiring to be amongst people who know what you’ve been through and everyone supports each other.
